Numbers from our own orders

From 644 ring orders paid December 2025 to October 2026, counted from our order tracker in the SMIRO Ring Report:

  • 76% of ring orders were yellow gold; 14K yellow alone was 54%.
  • The median centre diamond was 3.0 carats; 81% were between 2 and 4 carats.
  • 86% specified D, E or F colour, and 97% VS1 clarity or better.
  • 28% included hand engraving; 7% asked for a hidden gemstone like a birthstone.
  • 50% of ring orders came from the US and 29% from Ontario.
  • Half of Canadian ring orders were quoted between $5,100 and $7,000 CAD, centre stone included (317 orders).
  • In September 2026 our median 2 carat lab grown diamond was $2,546 CAD, against $9,905 for a comparable natural stone.

Story ideas

  • A family jeweller that grew on TikTok. Clint posted his first video in 2023 to see what would happen. It took off, and in 2024 he and Karina quit their jobs to work beside their dad.
  • The tulip basket. How one setting became our signature, with over 1,000 built in every diamond shape.
  • Buying a ring without a showroom. The estimate and the video call come first, then the 3D design and the actual diamond on video, and the balance is paid only after the finished ring is seen on video.
  • What couples actually order. The Ring Report counts paid orders instead of running a survey: yellow gold, three carats, colourless.
