The Best Shapes for Champagne Diamonds

In this guide

Short answer: Our most popular champagne diamond shapes are the classics: ovals, cushions and radiants. Old mine cuts get a lot of attention online, but ovals are what sell for us right now. Brilliant shapes like these spread the warm colour evenly with sparkle. Step cuts like emeralds show the colour more strongly and evenly, with less sparkle.

These are the shapes people actually buy in champagne, and why.

Our most popular shapes we get for champagne diamonds are the classics, ovals, cushions, radiants. People are always seeing the old mine cuts for champagne, but the most classic shapes like ovals are what are the hot sellers for us right now.

    Oval

Our best seller. Long, flattering on the finger, and the brilliant faceting keeps the warm colour lively. Look for a well cut oval so there is no dark bowtie, which can look muddier in a champagne stone.

    Cushion

Soft corners and a vintage feel that suits warm colour. Crushed ice cushions glitter; chunkier facets give bigger flashes of colour.

    Radiant

Straight sides, clipped corners and a busy sparkle. A radiant can make a champagne stone read a little lighter because the facets scatter light.

    Old mine and step cuts

Old mine cuts have big, slow flashes and look antique, which is why they are all over social media. Step cuts like emerald show body colour most strongly, so they suit people who want the colour front and centre.

    Questions we get about this

What is the most popular champagne diamond shape?

For us, ovals, then cushions and radiants.

Which shape shows champagne colour the most?

Step cuts like emerald show it most strongly. Brilliants spread it with more sparkle.

    Do you restock champagne diamonds?

Each stone is one of one. We source new ones, but never the same stone twice.

How much do champagne diamonds cost?

Our loose champagne diamonds run from $3,500 to $4,500 CAD for stones between 2.70 and 4.05 carats, all VS clarity or better, as of September 2026. The ring is on top: a fully custom ring from us starts at about $4,000 USD in total. See the live stones in our champagne collection.

Do champagne diamonds look good in an oval?

Yes. It is our best selling champagne shape: the length flatters the finger and the brilliant facets keep the warm colour lively.
