Our classic pavé tulip pairs the petal shaped prongs of a tulip basket with a band of small diamonds that goes 75 percent of the way down, tapering from 2.2 mm to 2 mm toward the stone. The diamond sits just above the bridge, so a 2 mm wedding band stacks flush. It comes in round, oval, emerald, radiant, cushion, marquise and pear, with or without a hidden halo.
Hidden pavé sets the diamonds on the side faces of the band or bridge instead of the top. From above you see a plain band and the centre stone; turn your hand and it lights up. Van's oval, in 18K yellow gold, has pavé on both sides of the bridge, and John's radiant has hidden pavé down the sides of the band. Chen's marquise puts diamonds on one side of the bridge and initials on the other; more ideas like that are on personalized engagement rings.
Most of our pavé goes 75 percent down the band, so the palm side stays plain metal. Lee's anniversary ring goes further, with hidden pavé 80 percent down both sides. Carlos's 6.02 carat radiant has pavé to 75 percent with a euroshank to keep it steady. Bands never go under 2 mm in gold, pavé or not. More in band width and taper.
