    Short answer: Smiro Studio is a family run custom studio that makes lab grown engagement rings by hand at our Toronto bench. Every lab diamond 1 carat and up is IGI certified, you approve a 360 render before anything is cast, and delivery is free and insured across Canada and the US. Most rings land between $4,000 and $5,000.

    We are Clint and Karina, and our dad Kenny, who has been making jewellery since 1985. Here is what buying a lab grown ring from us actually looks like.

    Who makes the ring?

    Our family and our Toronto bench. Kenny has over 40 years at the bench and leads production: casting, setting, polish. Clint and Karina run design and consults. You talk to the people who make the ring, not a sales floor.

    Why do most of our clients choose lab grown?

    Money goes further. In September 2026 our median 2 carat lab grown diamond was $2,546 CAD, against $9,905 for a comparable natural stone. That difference buys a bigger stone, a better cut, or more hand detail on the ring. We still sell natural for anyone who prefers it.

    What makes our lab rings different?

    Three things we are known for: the tulip basket (we have built over 1,000), hand engraving carved by an artisan, and unusual cuts like bowtie-free ovals, Portuguese cuts and our crisscut Dutch marquise. Clean on top, all the personality underneath.

    Can I see you in person in Toronto?

    We are virtual only right now, which keeps prices down. Consults are free 30 minute video calls, and we send real video of every stone and a close-up of the finished ring before it ships. Our Toronto studio is at 27 Queen St E, by appointment.

    How long does it take?

    About 11 weeks from deposit to door: 3 weeks of design, 6 at the bench, 2 shipping. Our published range is 10 to 14 weeks.
