Art Deco Engagement Rings

Emerald cut diamond on a yellow gold band channel set with baguette diamonds down both sides, angled view

Art deco engagement rings, step cuts and straight lines, made new.

Art deco rings are built from straight lines: step cut stones like the emerald cut, channel set baguettes, sharp Dutch marquises and milgrain edges. We don't sell antiques. We make new rings with those details, at full thickness, and you approve the design in 3D first. Below are the deco pieces we've built for clients and the ones we list to order.

What makes an engagement ring art deco?

Geometry. Step cuts with long, open facets, baguettes set in a straight channel, angular outlines and milgrain borders. Our emerald cut ring above runs channel set baguettes down both shoulders. Step cuts show everything, so we suggest VVS2 or better on a step cut Dutch marquise. More on vintage details in vintage style engagement rings.

Which stones suit an art deco ring?

Emerald cuts and Dutch marquises most of all. A Dutch marquise breaks the marquise curve into straight, faceted shoulders, so it reads sharper and more architectural. Banjamin's 2.59 carat Dutch marquise sits between Cadillac side stones, with the band and bridge fully engraved from the inspiration the client sent us.

Is a new art deco ring better than an antique?

For daily wear, usually. An antique's metal has thinned over decades; a new ring starts at full thickness, and we never go under 2 mm in gold. You also choose the exact stone, size and band. Milgrain and hand engraving finish the look: see every style on hand engraving, and baguette bands to stack with it in wedding bands.

Questions we get

Do you sell antique art deco rings?

No. We make new rings with art deco details, so the metal starts at full thickness.

What diamond shape is most art deco?

The emerald cut and other step cuts, plus angular shapes like the Dutch marquise.

What clarity does a step cut need?

Higher than a brilliant cut, because the long open facets show inclusions. We suggest VVS2 or better on a step cut Dutch marquise.

Can I add milgrain?

Yes. Milgrain is a row of tiny metal beads along an edge, and it pairs well with hand engraving.

Is there a baguette band to match?

Yes. Our channel set baguette bands start at $1,495 CAD for 0.5 carats of lab grown diamonds.
