Engagement Ring Consultation: What to Expect on the Call

    Short answer: Our consult is a free 20 minute video call with the team who will make your ring. Before it, you can send your estimate or photos, and we pull photos of rings we have built like your idea. On the call we walk through shape, setting, band and metal and price your exact spec, so you leave with a real number. Nothing happens afterwards unless you want it to.

    What happens before the call?

    Send your estimate or photos before the call, so we start where you left off. We pull photos of rings we have built that look like your idea, so you see real ones, not drawings.

    What happens on the call?

    • Your idea. Photos, a budget, or nothing at all.
    • Rings we have built like it. Real photos of finished rings, so you see the detail before you choose.
    • The details a jeweller thinks about. Proportions, setting height, band width and metal.
    • A price. We price your exact spec on the call, so you leave with a real number.

    What should I bring?

    Whatever you have. If you know what you want, send photos or your estimate before the call. If you are just starting, bring nothing: we walk you through shapes, settings and what your budget buys, and you leave with a short list and a price range.

    Do I need to come to the studio?

    No. We are virtual first, by video, so there are no walk-ins or studio visits, from our studios at 27 Queen St E in Toronto and 580 Fifth Avenue in New York. Prefer to write? Message either studio and a real person replies, usually within one business day.

    What happens after the call?

    Nothing, unless you want it to. When you are ready, a 50% deposit starts the 3D design and the diamond search, and the balance is due when you see the finished ring. Every step after that is in the custom ring process, step by step.

    When should I book it?

    A few weeks before you need to start. A custom ring takes 10 to 12 weeks from deposit to your door, and a made to order ring about 8 weeks. Check the order-by dates if you have a proposal date.
