An Ashoka Cut Diamond in a Six Petal Tulip, Hand Engraved

In this guide

Short answer: This ring sets a 2.5 carat Ashoka cut diamond into a custom six petal tulip head in yellow gold. The whole band is hand engraved: little stars with diamonds tucked inside them, mountains on the shoulders for where he proposed, and a lotus on one side with the Himalayas on the other, one for each partner's heritage. The Ashoka is a long, cut-cornered shape with big facets, so it pairs well with a basket you see from the side.

An Ashoka cut is not a shape most people have seen. This is the one we set, and how the ring around it was planned.

Six petals sit under the stone. From the top the Ashoka stays clean, and from the side you see the flower. We have built over a thousand tulip baskets, and the styles are all on our tulip basket page.

    Why engrave the whole band?

The mountains mark the proposal, and the lotus and the Himalayas sit on opposite sides so each partner has their own side of the ring. The stars carry tiny diamonds, so the engraving catches light as well. We carve 56 styles of hand engraving and they can be mixed on one ring like this. What is an Ashoka cut?

An Ashoka is an elongated cut with cut corners and large facets. It looks closer to an antique cushion than to a modern brilliant, and it tends to look large for its weight because of its length. If you like that look but want more options, ask about custom cut diamonds or the cushion cuts.

How to get a ring like this

Start with the pieces of your story: a place, a flower, a heritage, a date. We plan the engraving around them, then the stone and the head. If you have an unusual cut in mind, tell us early so we can source it.

A ring like this takes 10 to 12 weeks from deposit to your door. If you have a proposal planned, check our order-by dates first.
