Full Bezel Engagement Ring with a Tulip Basket Underneath

Short answer: A full bezel wraps a rim of metal all the way around the diamond instead of using prongs. It is the most protective, snag-free setting. On this ring the bezel sits on top of a tulip basket, so from the top it is a clean bezel oval on a slightly chunkier 3mm band, and from underneath there are petals with his birthstone tucked into two of them.

Custom rings you will never find at your local big box store, featuring this full bezel oval. So from the top view, super clean oval diamond, full bezel with a slightly chunkier 3mm band when you flip the ring over. Tulip basket connecting to the full bezel, plus on two of the tulip baskets, we actually had his birthstone subtly tucked in there, hidden away from top view. So it still is this super clean oval diamond, full focus on the centre stone, only when you flip it over, you see that tulip basket and two birthstones tucked in the tulips.
The ring in the video
A full bezel oval on a 3mm band. When you flip the ring, a tulip basket connects to the bezel, and in two of the petals we set his birthstone, hidden from the top view.
What is a bezel setting?
A thin wall of metal that surrounds the stone and is pressed over its edge. A full bezel goes all the way around. A half bezel covers part of it, often the ends.
Pros and cons
- Pros: protects the edge of the stone, nothing to catch on clothes or hair, very secure, modern and clean.
- Cons: covers a thin rim of the stone and lets in a little less light from the side, so it can look slightly smaller than the same stone in prongs.
Why add a tulip basket?
A bezel on its own can look heavy from the side. A basket underneath opens it up and gives it the same hidden flower as our prong rings. It is one of our favourite variations on the tulip basket page.
Metal choice
Yellow gold bezels give the warm golden moon look in the video. White gold or platinum reads cooler and more modern.

Is a bezel setting more secure than prongs?
Yes. The metal wraps the stone's edge, so it is the most protective setting.
Does a bezel make the diamond look smaller?
Slightly, because a thin rim of metal covers the edge. A slim bezel keeps that to a minimum.
Can a bezel ring have a tulip basket?
Yes. The basket sits under the bezel and connects it to the band.
How much does a full bezel engagement ring cost?
A fully custom ring from us starts at about $4,000 USD, and most of the rings we build land between $4,000 and $5,000. Our Ready To Order settings start at $1,299 CAD, plus the diamond. The centre stone moves the price most: in September 2026 a 2 carat lab grown diamond ran about $2,500 CAD and a 3 carat about $2,700 CAD. Real numbers are in our cost guide.
Is a bezel setting good for an active lifestyle?
It is the best choice for it. Nothing sticks up to catch, and the stone's edge is fully protected.
