What does a private jeweller do?

A private jeweller designs and makes a piece for one person, instead of selling you something from a case. You talk to the people doing the work, they draw the ring around your stone and your idea, and nothing is made until you say yes. In the US it is spelled jeweler; it is the same job.

That is how every ring here starts. Clint designs every custom piece, and we have built over a thousand tulip baskets, plus hand engraving in 56 styles and rare specialty cuts. What makes someone a private jeweller, and how that differs from a store, is in what a private jeweller is.

Who will I actually work with?

A family, and a small team you can name. Adam Phillips, our ring design lead, runs most consults and is usually the first person you meet. Clint designs every custom piece. Karina sources every stone we set. Our dad Kenny has more than 40 years at the bench and oversees the production of every ring, from the first wax model to the final polish.

Behind them, Aira keeps your 3D render, revisions and approvals moving, and Sha Sha looks after deposits, receipts and tracking. Everyone is on our team page.

How does it work over video?

  1. A price. The free estimate prices your exact ring in about a minute.
  2. A 20 minute call. We show you rings we've built like yours and give you the price on the call.
  3. 3D design. Half starts the design: a CAD file you mark up, then a 360 render you spin and approve. Most rings take two or three rounds.
  4. Your diamond. We send two stones, each with a 360 video and its IGI certificate at 1 carat and up. You pick.
  5. The bench and your door. About 8 weeks, a close-up video before you pay the balance, then free insured FedEx with an adult signature.

What does a private jeweller cost?

Half of our Canadian ring orders were quoted between $5,100 and $7,000 CAD, centre stone included. US clients are quoted in US dollars; our median US ring order is about $4,000 USD, centre stone included. A complete listed ring with a 2 carat lab grown diamond starts at $3,100 CAD in 14K gold. Do I need to live near Toronto or New York?

No. Our studios are at 27 Queen St E in Toronto and 580 Fifth Avenue in New York, and we're virtual first, so there are no walk-ins or studio visits. Questions we get

Can I meet my private jeweller in person?

No. We're virtual first, so there are no walk-ins or studio visits. You meet us on a free 20 minute video call, and you can message the Toronto or New York studio; a real person replies, usually within one business day.

Is a private jeweller more expensive?

Not by default. The same spec gets the same price for everyone, and our complete listed rings with a 2 carat lab grown diamond start at $3,100 CAD in 14K gold.

Who designs my ring?

Clint designs every custom piece, Karina sources every stone, and Adam runs most consults. Our dad Kenny oversees the production of every ring.

Do you work with clients in the US?

Yes. Half of our ring orders since December 2025 were from US couples. You're quoted in US dollars, and the ring ships free and insured by FedEx.

How long does it take?

10 to 12 weeks from deposit to your door, and about two weeks more for US customs. See the order-by dates.
