Yellow and green sapphires usually cost the least, fine blues and pinks more, and padparadscha, a pink and orange blend, is the rarest. Two sapphires of the same weight and shape can be thousands of dollars apart because of colour and origin. Our natural pink sapphires are listed with prices and video, including a 3.34 ct unheated padparadscha from Madagascar with a GRS report.
Sapphire is 9 on the Mohs hardness scale, hard enough for daily wear. Diamond is 10 and has more fire, and a pink lab grown diamond costs far less than a natural pink one. We carry both: pink lab diamonds vs natural pink sapphires, or the wider sapphire vs diamond comparison.
Not ready for a coloured centre stone? Set small natural sapphires in the petals of a tulip basket, add a coloured hidden halo, or set gems in the bridge. From the top you see a white diamond, and the colour shows when the ring turns. See sapphires hidden in the tulip petals.
A 2.37 ct oval Ceylon blue sapphire in double prongs on an 18K yellow gold split shank, with five small side stones on each side and 17 engraved notches along the band, 9 on one side and 8 on the other. Aquamarine and emerald, for March and May, are hidden in the design. See the finished ring.
We source stones in the colour you want and send you video of each before you choose. After that it runs like any custom ring: about three weeks of 3D design, about six weeks at the bench, and free insured delivery.
